My friend Kevin Wilson, a biblical scholar, writes a much more rational response to the Obama the Antichrist meme than I am capable of. My response tends to be the less subtle: “Wait. There’s no way you’re stupid enough to believe this crap, is there?”
In other WTF news: Did you know that Obama was going to remove the American flag from the presidential seal? He’s already said that he would do this after he takes office. Or not. When my boss’s friend stopped by the other day and shared this little nugget of wisdom, I had no idea what he was talking about. Now that I’ve had a chance to look into it, I think I understand where his confusion was coming from. Back in June, Obama unveiled a personal logo to be used on podiums (or podia, if you prefer) when he was speaking so that he would look more presidential. You can see his logo and the presidential seal side-by-side here. This didn’t really go over very well since on June 23, only three days after it was introduced, the Obama campaign said the logo wouldn’t be used again. I think most reasonable people would see this for what it was, a dumb marketing mistake, rather than a long-term vision for reworking the presidential seal. But here in east Tennessee, “reasonable” seems to be in short supply these days.
